ARTFUL AFTERNOON

Greenbelt Community Center All ages welcome. Most activities FREE. Sunday, June 3, 1:00pm-4:00pm

Help create whimsical artwork for an interactive public exhibit celebrating local insect life. Workshop led by Rachel Cross, Artist in Residence, 1:00pm-3:00pm. (Wear your painting clothes!)

FOR KIDS

 

HOMESCHOOL AROUND THE WORLD THROUGH ART & MUSIC

Greenbelt Community Center, Greenbelt, MD

Ages 6-12 Each week, students will explore a different country or region of the world through art and music. Students will keep a portfolio of maps, lyrics, artwork and facts about each place we study. Students should bring a water bottle and snack to class (no nuts please) and dress in comfortable art-making clothing. The last 20 minutes of the last class will feature a presentation of music and art for our families. Th 10:00am-12:00pm/CC-113 8 mtgs: 4/5 - 5/24

UKE CAN DO IT, KIDS! BEGINNING UKULELE

Greenbelt Community Center, Greenbelt, MD

Ages 8-12 In this beginner level class, students will learn how to pluck simple melodies, and strum and sing songs in a group. We will learn about song structure and how to read ukulele chord charts. Students must provide their own SOPRANO ukulele and a folder for sheet music. All sheet music will be provided. Th 5:00pm-6:00pm/CC-109 8 mtgs: 4/5 - 5/24

Students will learn how to pluck simple melodies, strum, and sing songs in a group while exploring ukulele music. We will also learn to read ukulele tablature and chord charts. Students must provide their own ukulele and a folder for sheet music. All sheet music will be provided.  This class will culminate in a group recital and celebration on the last day of class.

In this intermediate level class, focus will be on more complex ensemble pieces. You will also learn some finger-picking, new strumming patterns, and more chords. Students must provide their own soprano ukulele and a folder for sheet music. All sheet music will be provided. This class will culminate in a group recital and celebration on the last day of class..
